Practically Perfect
Tuesday September 13-Friday September 16
What a glorious week of beautiful surroundings and practically perfect weather! This resort was simply glorious and almost all the attendees said they would love to return to Northpointe Shores in the future. The amenities were top notch, and the staff took good care of us. We enjoyed a campfire nearly every night, one that we didn’t have to build or bring chairs to. We had a choice of a traditional wood campfire or a gas lit fire, but the gas log was so easy to use (once we read the directions) and so unique we naturally gravitated to the gas fire pit each night. The beautiful scenery of Lake St. Clair was the icing on the cake for this small, well-kept resort.
Tuesday, after checking in, we all gathered for happy hour and then loaded in our cars to travel to a group dinner out at Sugarbush Tavern. This restaurant had an extensive menu with something for everyone and we all enjoyed a good meal and great conversation with friends. Attentive servers helped round out the evening, and we all enjoyed our meals.
Wednesday, we gathered for continental breakfast between the rigs. Folks took off after breakfast for site seeing in the area and we reconvened for the Mystery Wine Tasting Game during happy hour. Tasters had 7 wines (labels were covered) to try and voted for their favorite. The 3 favorite wines were brought by the Attridges, the Pavliniks and the Daubenmires. Prizes of fall mums were given to the winners. After happy hour, we traveled down to the lakeshore at the resort for a delicious potluck dinner of kielbasa and sauerkraut. Many thanks to Jim and Claudia Pavlinik for cooking the main course for everyone and then packaging up the leftovers the next day. Lots of different dishes accompanied the meal, no one left hungry. The business meeting was held after dinner and the requisite campfire followed the meeting.
Thursday breakfast included two egg casseroles prepared by Claudia and Chris followed by free time to venture out again for exploring the area. Happy hour and dinner were on your own today, with an apple crisp and ice cream dessert gathering providing an opportunity to round out our evening.
Friday breakfast allowed us all to gather once more before we headed our separate ways.
Personally, I can’t wait for a chance to return to Northpointe Shores and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an out of the way, pleasant place to relax on the eastern side of Michigan.
We had 9 rigs and 18 attendees at the fall rally. Pictures are being provided by various members.
