About Us
Roving Wolverines is a Chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA). The FMCA has around 500 chapters organized in 10 areas covering the USA and Canada. Roving Wolverines is one of 23 chapters in the GREAT LAKES AREA. This chapter has about 25 member families from Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana.
Roving Wolverines activities include rallies, caravans, and an annual convention. The chapter usually holds three extended weekend rallies each year in May, July and September. The chapter also sponsors one caravan, to travel a planned sight-seeing route over 3 to 6 weeks, depending on destinations. A rally generally attracts about 15 - 20 families. Guests are always welcome. The caravan normally involves 10, no more than 12, chapter families. Our members also participate in the annual FMCA Great Lakes Area Rally (GLAMARAMA) and the summer FMCA International Convention.
Chapter Rallies:
Club rallies are held sometimes on weekends and other times during the week, duration of 2 to 4 days, typically at locations where electricity, water, and usually sewer, hookups are available. Rally cost varies depending on the campground and planned activities. Each rally is hosted by one or more couples who plan meals (usually including a potluck and a dinner at a near by restaurant), and extra activities in the areas near the campground. See our Event Calendar tor future plans.
Chapter Lunch
From time to time, one of our members will initiate a call to lunch. No set schedule or minimum number is set, the event is quite spontaneous. A broadcast email will announce that some site will host a lunch gathering for Roving Wolverines. Anyone who chooses to attend replies and just shows up at the time.
Area Rally:
The Chapter participates and supports the Great Lakes Area Motorcoach Association Annual Rally - GLAMARAMA. The event is a 5-day rally; and, for example, in 2018, it is scheduled for June 6 - 10, at the Allegan County Fairgrounds in Allegan, MI. Watch our event calendar or FMCA site for upcoming events. The rally offers seminars, vendor displays, new coach displays, entertainment, and fun for the whole family. The Roving Wolverines typically assist in providing Handicapped/Activity golf cart transportation.
National Convention:
The National Convention is similar in content to the Area Rally only much larger. In addition, there are meetings of the National Officers, and National and Alternate National Directors. These meetings set policies and directions for the organization and elect National Officers.
Chapter Caravan:
The chapter normally offers an annual multiple week caravans traveling to interesting places around the country. Over the last several years, the caravans have traveled to each coast. Caravan leaders plan the routes and make all necessary reservations for campgrounds and activities based on the input of participants. Trip routing is provided, and coaches travel in small groups from location to location.
Membership in Roving Wolverines is open to all members of Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA). The process of joining is simple and found on the Join us page. Annual chapter dues defray miscellaneous expenses like postage, while all labor is volunteer. Please visit the FMCA web-site to get information about the organization and the services provided. Many RV-related benefits are offered to its members.
