The fall rally was held at Silver Creek RV resort. In addition, the 20th anniversary of the Roving Wolverines was celebrated at this rally. We had an excellent turnout of 20 coaches with one of the coaches belonging to Ken Lewis, our Regional Vice President, and his wife Linda. We also had 3 guests, friends and a daughter of members. While the weather was not the most cooperative, everyone had a great time. Hosts for this rally were Bob and Becky Jones and Lynn and Carol Petre. Bill and Loretta Attridge and Phyllis and Steve Thornburg also helped with arrangements for the celebration festivities on Saturday night.
Thursday was check in with a happy hour and, due to the cancellation of the Silver Lake Apple BBQ festival, we created a Roving Wolverines version with a Chili Dog dinner and apple desserts. After dinner, several members took advantage of the cold and damp weather with a campfire. Special thanks to Lynn and Carol for providing the wood and building a great fire.
Friday morning we enjoyed coffee, juice, doughnuts and tasty homemade breads at the clubhouse. It was a “free day” with members taking advantage of the areas many local attractions. Jim Buda taught a seminar, as well, on computers and software and provided those attending with some good information. Dinner was held at Open Hearth Restaurant in Mears and their wait staff did an excellent job attending to all of us. Later that evening, members and guests had a choice of playing Card Bingo in the clubhouse, conducted by Becky and Bob, with prizes handed out to winners or warming their selves by another campfire held at Lynn and Carol’s site.
Saturday morning’s breakfast was a repeat of Friday morning’s (that’s a good thing, right?) followed up by the Club’s business meeting. John Herthel was named our new sheriff. So make sure you are wearing your badge at future rallies or it’s going to cost you a buck! (Of course, all monies collected go to the Wounded Warriors Project. That will be Becky’s excuse every time she forgets her badge!) While hosts spent the afternoon preparing for the celebration dinner, members were free to spend the afternoon relaxing at their site or doing a little more exploring of the area. Saturday night’s potluck dinner included a very tasty ham provided by the club and many delicious dishes from which to choose. At the close of dinner we began the 20th anniversary celebration. A beautiful sheet cake and ice cream were served and we drew names for FMCA items donated by Ken Lewis and RV voltage meters donated by John Herthal. Lee Brink accepted on behalf of our Club an award for achieving a 20-year milestone presented by Ken Lewis. Gary and Nancy Scholl were honored as founding members of the club and were given a 20-year award. They also gave a presentation on how the Roving Wolverines Motorhome Club got its start.
Sunday morning we all said our goodbyes and headed for home. Special thanks to Lynn and Carol Petre for all of their help. Providing the golf cart was a real bonus. We could not have done it without them. Additional thanks go out to Bill and Loretta Attridge, Steve and Phyllis Thornburg, Jim Buda and our daughter, Tara, for their help in making this a great rally.
Keep on Roving!
Happy Trails,
Bob & Becky Jones
